All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate-school mountain, but there in the sandpile at Sunday School. These are the things I learned:

Share everything. 

Play fair. 

Don't hit people. 

Put things back where you found them. 

Clean up your own mess. 

Don't take things that aren't yours. 

Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. 

Wash your hands before you eat. 

Flush. 

Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you. 

Live a balanced life - learn some and think some

and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and

work every day some. 

Take a nap every afternoon. 

When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, 

hold hands, and stick together. 

Be aware of wonder.

Remember the little seed in the styrofoam cup: 

The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really

knows how or why, but we are all like that. 

Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the

little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. 

So do we. 

And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and

the first word you learned - the biggest

word of all - LOOK. 

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation.

Ecology and politics and equality and sane living. 

Take any of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or your government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. 

Think what a better world it would be if all - the whole world - had cookies and milk about three

o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had

a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess. 

And it is still true, no matter how old you are - when you go out into the world, it is best 

to hold hands and stick together.

Recien se termina mi travesia apresurada por el modulo que mas estuve esperando desde que comencé a estudiar el Teacher Training, y como es poco el tiempo y mucho que queria saber, se me fue como un suspiro.

Aprendi nuevas cosas, reafirmé muchas otras y me hubiese gustado que durara mas tiempo para que me pudieran enseñar mas. Deberia incluso de existir un para quien desee especializarse en la enseñanza del idioma Ingles en niños pequeños, por que el 90% (si no es que mas) de lo que se ve en el curso, va enfocado a Junior/Adolescentes/Adultos, y lo unico que tenemos que está enfocado a niños es un nivel, y el enseñar a niños pequeños es todo un rollo aparte y quienes estamos interesadas en la enseñanza de ellos, siento que nos quedamos con necesidad de ver mas cosas.

Robert Fulghum escribio algo que es muy cierto, todo lo que debemos saber, lo podemos aprender en el Kinder, las reglas básicas, no se necesita mas, lo basicó que debemos aprender a hacer cuando somos niños, es lo mismo que debemos saber de grandes, pero tal parece que lo olvidamos y vamos agarrando malicia.

Definitivamente, enseñar a pequeños humanos es punto y aparte, es demasiado cansado, es un trabajo muy demandante, estresante, agotador y te la vives resfriado.... pero es lo mas hermoso, cuando ves que comienzan a entender y producir el idioma, en ese momento sientes que todo ha valido la pena y es el mayor incentivo, de verdad, a demas de que ese cariño tan puro que sienten por ti y lo ves reflejado cuando en su cara llena de alegria y llegan y te dan un abrazo, aunque te dejen embarrada de mocos y germenes, esos pequeños abrazos se sienten los mas grandes.

Si, estoy enamorada de lo que hago y poder cultivar un poquito de conocimiento en la mente de mis niños, se que perderé contacto con la mayoria (si no es que todos) y no sabré en que logran convertirse de adultos, y que lo mas seguro es que no me recuerden para ése entonces, pero si ayude un poquito a que sean mejores, eso lo es todo.
